Review:

Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) leaves his deliberate outcast, selecting a group to work with him brimming with thrill seekers.

A warrior named Xiang who is committed to operating a weapon called Pandora’s Box ends his mystery retirement when he’s expected to pull off a high-stakes mission.

the film tries to maintain a deliberate fun tone throughout the action, takes itself seriously and at the same time, assuming it’s just another action flick for action movie fans.

Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa make little use of all their abilities, probably because the script tries constantly to use them as a team, returning focus to the problem in hands, especially to the female character, Serena (Deepika Padukone).

There is nothing new here, the action is based on already seen stuntwork that, well, just work.

The story is good, often becomes a bit boring trying to explain when we already got it, but it sprinkles its very comfortable activity, meaning, action fights, using the physical capabilities of Vin Diesel mostly.

The bad guys offer some pretty nasty action themselves. Yen and Jaa are enchanting set pieces and their work is opposed to fake arrangements of stunt doubles.

That alone could move out of the way the Xander character and place the action from a different perspective. Seems the movie tries to cut around the fact that one team is way better than its counterpart of outcasts and, in the end, the salvation comes in the form of another secret agent to the rescue.

The xXx creation is becoming outdated. If they don’t risk in keeping the series alive instead of waiting for another worldwide treat to make an essential plot, then it becomes hard to “believe”, even for a simple action movie, that the hero was just resting/retired somewhere and all of a sudden it comes back to save the world, when the series seemed abandoned.

Reliant upon the kind of movies you are into, you could either reach the end profoundly fulfilled, or you could leave in the middle and possibly forget too soon watching xXx: Return of Xander Cage at any point in time again.

Just don’t take it too seriously, it’s an action movie like many others in the past, but this one just tries to live up to its name and nothing more. And for that delivers a good time while stepping upon many latest action boring movies that come out every day from the same furnace.
